Movie Maker can be used to stitch videos together, add soundtracks and effects and more. In other words, the application enables you to create video montages. Its controls are designed with ease of use in mind, so anyone can master them in no time, including beginners. It takes only a few moments to have the application up and running and you don't have to meet any special requirements.

The user interface presents everything you would expect to find in a video editor. You may create your photo, video and audio libraries on the upper part of the window, where you can also preview your montage, with the software's embedded player. Special effects and subtitle options can be found on their own tabs, in the same region of the interface.

Creating a video is as simple as clicking and dragging images, videos and audio files from your libraries into a timeline, in the lower region of the user interface. Special effects can be inserted in a similar manner, over videos or between them if you want a special transition. Inserted video and audio files can be trimmed on a separate window, by clicking and dragging in their timelines or by specifying start and end points.

It should not take too long to complete a montage. Unlike other video editors, Movie Maker doesn't burden you with too many options, spread around its interface. When you are done, you may choose from various output options. The software can export your montage as a local video file, to iTunes or upload it to YouTube or Facebook. Furthermore, if you decide to save it locally, you may choose from various output profiles, which are optimized for specific devices, like the iPhone, iPad and many others.

Pros

The software has a clean and simple design and it is very easy to use. It provides a wide range of predefined themes and transition effects. Also, it can upload montages or save them locally in various formats.

Cons

Trimming a video or audio file is a bit complicated. You have to do it on a separate window, instead of doing it directly in the timeline, on the main interface. Home videos and other creative works can be created in just a few minutes, thanks to Movie Maker's straightforward functionality.
